Our equipment is custom created to match the needs of a wide range of products and industries. Our steam-heated vertical bayonet vaporizers and direct electrical-heated vaporizers allow for an on-demand supply of ammonia vapor for specific applications. These vertical vaporizers are used for process flows from 50 kg to 25,000 kg per hour.
The heating medium is usually steam, but vaporizers may be designed to be heated by hot water or heat-transfer fluids as well. Electric vaporizers are used where no steam source exists. These electric ammonia vaporizers are safe, highly reliable, and suitable for hazardous areas. Electric vaporizers can also be used to maintain or provide additional pressure within storage tanks. In a tank or rail-head offloading dock, they often are used for the transfer of liquid ammonia from the tank to the process.
How they work:
Process fluid, in this case ammonia, enters the vaporizer’s shell side where steam-heated transfer tubes heat the ammonia to a required temperature which can include boiling and additional superheat. The vapor then exits, often to a downstream reactor. The signature Armstrong Chemtec design allows for superheat to be built into the shell, removing the need for additional downstream equipment.
